Jul. 24th, 2019 09:04 pm![]() ★ First Impressions ❖ VISUAL: Kurt's all long limbs and lean muscle. His skin is covered in short, very fine dark blue fur (the texture has been described as feeling like velvet). His eyes don't have pupils and glow with a faint golden yellow light. His incisor and canine teeth are pointed and sharp, enough so that he had to be careful not to cut the insides of his mouth if he bites himself. His ears are pointed and he has a long (around 2-3ft) prehensile tail with a flexible spade on the end, which has enough dexterity to be able to pick up objects. His hands and feet have three digits, almost birdlike: two fingers and a thumb and three toes (two on the front of his foot and one at the heel) respectively. Generally, sitting or standing straight is somewhat uncomfortable for him, so Kurt tends to default to a crouched or perched position if he can get away with it. He's also just as comfortable moving and running on all fours as he is on his feet. ❖ FASHION: Kurt's wardrobe is a mix of clothing comfortable enough to move in (hoodies, sweaters, etc) with the occasional flash of fabulousness as he indulges his extravagant side (mostly pirate costumes). Most of his clothes have to be specially tailored to fit his tail. Due to his unique physiology, he also doesn't tend to wear shoes unless he absolutely has to. ❖ DEMEANOUR: Charming. In every sense. ❖ SOUND: Kurt is German, so he speaks English with a German accent which has been slightly softened by spending the last few decades living in the US. This accent gets stronger if he's tired, drunk or mentally compromised. At these times he also tends to slip back into speaking German. ❖ SCENT: On an average day Kurt smells pretty nice. Cologne, the body shampoo he gets from Hank, leather from his uniform, etc. However if he has been jaunting anywhere he will smell like sulphur for a little while afterwards. It's not strictly unpleasant (the scent is a bit like burnt matches) but can be quite strong. Those with a particularly good sense of smell might also pick up a faintly spicy scent, a little like ginger. ❖ MENTAL INFORMATION: Kurt has very strong psychic defences thanks to his training in the X-Men and the after effects of his resurrection, so you're not going to be able to read his mind unless he lets you or he's incapacitated in some way. ❖ MAGICAL INFORMATION: Though he has no magical abilities himself, Kurt's had quite a lot of experience with the magical and mystical. As well as spending quite a lot of time travelling through various dimensions (including the Otherworld and Limbo, 616's more magical planes), his body also once housed the Soulsword (which is basically what it sounds like). Any being with magical senses might pick up on these touches of power. ★ Abilities ❖ TELEPORTATION: Kurt's primary mutant power is the ability to teleport himself by displacing his body, his clothing and a certain amount of additional mass through an alternate dimension, reappearing at a chosen location. As he opens a passage through this dimension, it creates a small implosion of sound and a cloud of purple smoke that smells like brimstone or sulphur. After his resurrection, he has "unlocked" more of his teleportation ability, meaning he can now jump great distances (across continents) with ease. However, many teleports in a short amount of time, or carrying a large amount of mass (more than approximately 2 adult humans) will still cause him to become fatigued. People who "ride" along with him also tend to feel tired and sick after a jump if they're not used to it. ❖ PHYSIOLOGY: Kurt's unique appearance also comes with some physical advantages. His skeletal structure is incredibly flexible and durable, giving him a superhuman level of gymnastic agility and coordination. He is dexterous enough to be able to use his hands, feet and tail interchangeably. He can also climb walls and hang off ceilings using his hands and feet and can blend into shadows almost to the point of invisibility (so long as he keeps his glowing eyes closed). He also has enhanced night vision. ❖ SPECIALISED TRAINING: Thanks to his circus upbringing and training with the X-Men, Kurt is a highly skilled acrobat and hand-to-hand combatant. He's been known to hold off other superheroes with nothing except a pair of swords and the ability to jump over their heads. He also has a well-honed innate spatial awareness gained through his teleportation and is able to judge, for instance, how fast and at what angle to jump into a teleport to come out of the other side in time to take out an enemy. Kurt has generally picked up a lot of life experience over the last 30-something years. He's a skilled mechanic and pilot, and has a working knowledge of a number of different vehicles (including the occasional spaceship). His keen intelligence and natural curiosity make it easy for him to pick up intellectual pursuits. A childhood spent travelling around Europe means he can speak many different languages besides his native German, including English, Romanian, French, Romani, Spanish and Italian, as well as a bit of Latin, Hungarian and Dutch here and there. ★ Weaknesses ❖ MORTAL INJURY: Though it's possible that Kurt cannot die in the strictest sense (since being resurrected and losing his soul, he's noted that although he can reach Heaven, he is no longer welcome there), he is still somewhat mortal and vulnerable to injures and so on. |
